Lip Balm

Lip balm is a leave-on product that forms a moisturising or protective layer over the lips. Common formats include sticks, squeeze tubes and pots, with formulas based on ingredients such as petroleum jelly, beeswax, plant waxes and oils. Some products are fragrance-free, while others contain flavour, tint or sun protection. Choose a simple, non-irritating formula when the lips are sensitive or repeatedly dry. The NHS advises using balms containing petroleum jelly or beeswax and notes that some people may react to fragrances, dyes or other cosmetic ingredients. A lip balm with sun protection is useful outdoors, while persistent heat, pain or swelling should be assessed professionally.
